As COVID-19 spreads, research has shown that the homeless population is more likely to contract the virus. With no place to stay inside, and less accessibility to resources and support, the COVID-19 pandemic is affecting the homeless population at a greater rate. Lack of accessibility to basic supplies, health care, and other important supplies can all cause the environment in which the homeless population live to be more conducive to a disease epidemic.
The Sunrise Movement works to help educate others on this issue and provide resources to make real change and bring the beginning of a new day to those suffering from this pandemic. Our educational resources include a background overview of the issue, videos to watch, and articles to read. The resources we provide to take action include organizations to support and donate to, petitions to sign, state and federal level bills to support, and a map for those a part of the homeless population to use to find resources.
